Ethical and Legal Considerations

JNPARR strives for the highest ethical standards in editorial and publishing conduct. To that end, JNPARR follows the Committee for Publication Ethics (COPE) and  the ethical and legal standards outlined in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th ed.) and reporting of Conflicts of Interest as outlined by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). Every effort is made to ensure the validity and integrity of published papers, but final responsibility for the content rests with authors, not JNPARR, its editors, reviewers, or the publisher.

Authorship

All individuals listed in the by-line of any type of article must fully meet criteria for authorship. Individuals making other contributions should be identified in the acknowledgements. Consult the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th ed.) or the ICMJE for details. JNPARR requires that all authors meet the following criteria:

  1. Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work; and
  1. Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content; and
  1. Final approval of the version to be published.

Any changes in the authorship (author added, author removed, change in order of authorship) at any time during the review process must be approved in writing by all authors listed on any version of the paper.

Conflicts of Interest and Source of Funding

Authors must state all possible conflicts of interest in the manuscript, including financial, consultant, institutional and other relationships that might lead to bias or a conflict of interest. If there is no conflict of interest, this should also be explicitly stated as none declared. All sources of funding should be acknowledged in the manuscript. All relevant conflicts of interest and sources of funding should be included on the title page of the manuscript with the heading "Conflicts of Interest and Source of Funding."

Disclosures of Conflict of Interest

Author will disclose any conflicts of interest with any organizations, companies, facilities, and sponsors that might be cause for bias in the conduct and preparation of the research or manuscript. Author assumes full responsibility for the integrity of the facts, data and information contained in the manuscript. The JNPARR asserts that the Author bears sole responsibility for their opinions, statements and work, and that these do not represent the opinion of the PNAA, JNPARR and the editorial staff.

Copyright and Permission for Reuse of Copyright-Protected Material

Copyright

The JNPARR will have the right to secure copyright for the Manuscript, and any renewals or extensions thereof, in their names in the United States and elsewhere. The Author hereby irrevocably appoints the JNPARR, its successors and assigns, Author’s attorney in fact with power of substitution in the name of the JNPARR to execute on Author’s behalf any and all documents necessary to carry out the terms of this contract. The Author agrees to execute on Author’s behalf any and all documents necessary to carry out the terms of this contract. The Author agrees to execute any document the JNPARR may deem necessary to protect the rights granted hereunder.

Permissions

If the Author incorporates in the Manuscript any material which is subject to copyright protection, the Author agrees to immediately obtain written authorization to publish the Manuscript and establish the JNPARR’s authorship and ownership from the proprietor at the Author’s own expense.

It is the responsibility of the author to obtain permission for use of material owned by others such as copyrighted material: tables, charts, forms, figures, or text reuse. Follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th ed.) for guidelines on using previously published material (section 1.10, p. 15). Upload permission for reuse along with the rest of the manuscript parts at the time of article submission. Permission for use and sharing content from many sources may be obtained from the Copyright Clearance Center/Rights at: http://www.copyright.com/get-permissions/

Author and for his/her heirs, executors, administrators, successors, and assigns does hereby release and forever discharge the JNPARR its predecessors, and each of their respective former and present members, managers, directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all claims, actions, causes of action, demands, rights, damages, debts, compensations, costs or other expenses of any nature whatsoever, including attorney fees, by reason of copying, publication, republication by JNPARR or any of its assignees or licensees of any article or literary work heretofore provided to JNPARR by Author.

Editing

All submitted manuscripts will be subject to editing to meet editorial needs, style and standards of the JNPARR.
